Saturday, February 1, 2003: February is better

As I said yesterday, last night we had some people over to watch "The Wish" and "Doppelgangland". I didn't expect it not to be fun, but it turned out to be more fun than I expected. "The Wish" was a big hit, and we ended up watching "The Zeppo" as well. There was much snack food (some of which sadly ended up on my beige wool carpet) and jollity. It was a little different watching with other people, because lots of comments were made, but I think they added to rather than detracted from the experience.

Now I'm primed for TorontoConII tonight, and today I'll actually link to the people who are coming: Iko, mayaroo, Stacey and Karen D.

Today we'll be cleaning up and buying birthday cakes, which won't take long, so maybe we'll also go to Indigo or cuddle on the couch with the cryptic and a latte.

Tomorrow we're going to Fluevog with mayaroo and Iko who want to spend some of their hard-earned big fat American dollars on Canadian shoes (Blake might get a pair too) and I'd also like to go to the mall and get some cool new earrings now that I have no hair, and some of the Body Shop cocoa butter stretch mark stuff because to my chagrin I have started to develop stretch marks. (I know the stuff doesn't actually make any difference, but I'm buying it anyway because it smells good and will make me feel better, so there.)

It finally warmed up! It's only -1 now, and it's going to 1 later today. It seems to be chucking down some kind of stuff, I can't tell if it's snow or rain. But I'm okay with precipitation in exchange for not having to wear five million layers of clothes.

In other "Thank God" news, January is over! January was interminable this year, what with the cold and the thirty-one days and the post-Christmas back-to-work blahs. I hope February is better; so far it's looking good, warm and only twenty-eight days long. I like a month that doesn't outstay its welcome.

Last year, I was sorry because I hadn't updated in five days! Oh, how my standards have slipped. Also I took care of my friend and her baby, and saw The Fellowship of the Ring again.
