Friday, December 5, 2003: A little different.

Today is a little different. It's 11:10, and instead of sitting in the TV room typing on the little computer, I'm in the living room typing on the big computer. Blake is cuddling Delphine on the glider rocker, and listening to something tasteful on the classical music station.

We just got home from my company's Christmas party. It was held at a restaurant downtown, and there were plenty of free drinks and good food. I had three and a half cocktails and a glass of wine, so I'm a little out of it right now, and in fact my head is kind of achy and my stomach is kind of queasy. My body doesn't take long to get the hangover going.

It was nice to hang out with work people and drink and eat and generally act like an independent adult, and not have to have an ear and an eye out for a tiny person all the time. I love Delphine with a mad passion, but it's exhausting having to be responsible for someone else all the time.

Tonight Delphine stayed home and my mother-in-law and father-in-law babysat. Apparently she was very good, playing patty cake and eating and sleeping and being sweet. I was so glad to see her when I got home; she's delicious.

This weekend is pretty full. Tomorrow I would like Blake to take care of Delphine for an hour or two while I clean up and vacuum. We need to go out and get fruit and tomatoes for brunch on Sunday, and Blake would like to go down to the St Lawrence Market to buy a ham. I'm not sure why we need a ham, apart from that ham is always good.

Sunday we're having a family brunch to celebrate my father-in-law's birthday, and I think that's all that's on.

And now we're all going to bed. Good night, everyone.

In 2001 I took some pictures, and there was fog.
